Start Your Career in Natural Resources with Tarn Forestry
Recently finished high school, taking a pre-college gap, or currently enrolled in a forestry-related program? We’re looking for motivated people who want field experience and a solid paycheck while they learn the fundamentals of natural-resource work.
What You’ll Learn & Do
- Shadow experienced crews to see how a forest project is planned and executed.
- Collect stand data—diameter, height, age, site notes—that guides management decisions.
- Record findings with basic field tech (GPS-enabled phone/tablet and simple forms).
- Flag boundaries and buffers for timber harvest operations
- Organize daily data and photos into a format the office can use immediately.
- Keep tools, PPE, and vehicles field-ready for the next assignment.
- Operate comfortably in extreme terrain—long off-trail hikes, steep slopes, and consistently wet or otherwise adverse conditions.
Contract Terms
- 1099 sub-contractor status: set your own days and hours in coordination with project leads.
- Top-tier hourly rates for safe, on-schedule performance; pay increases with demonstrated skill.
- Mileage, and reimbursements as project scope requires.
